The investigation of the design of a bridge on the maximum loading capacity of the bridges

Many bridges around the world has collapsed due to many factors.  Thus, this experiment aims to find out how the design of the bridges will affect the of efficiency of the bridges. The bridges were built in the Engineering Lab by the team using ice cream sticks and white glue. The bridge testing device was built by team by tying strong nylon ropes onto the handles of a large metal tin. All tests were conducted in Gym. We loaded the bridge testing device with 2.5kg weights until the bridge cracks, breaks or collapses. Results indicated that the bridge with the through truss design has the highest efficiency. For future building of bridges, bridges with through truss designs should be used. Moreover, further studies can be done in other factors of bridge efficiency such as the materials used, size of the bridge, thickness of the materials, the height of the bridges, the length of the bridges, and the breath of the bridges.
